フィリピンのManila北西部、Quezon cityにあるPayatasという地に

町中のゴミが捨てられるゴミ山があります。
in Payatas, Quezon City, northwest of Manila, in the Philippines
今回はそのPayatasにあるフリースクールにお邪魔してきました。
I would like to report of the free school which is in the Paytas.

クラスは午前と午後で年齢別に分かれており、今回は5〜7歳のクラスに参加しました。
We attended the class out of 2 which is for 5~7 years old children this time.

先生は全２人しかおらず、その他はボランティアなどに頼っています。
Since there are only 2 teachers, they ask volunteers to do other stuffs.
現在、この学校はほぼ外部からの寄付のみで運営されています。
Since the beginning, this school is run only by money donation.

その日の授業内容はアルファベットの練習、お絵描き、そして合唱でした。
The contents of the day's class were writing alphabet, drawing picture,
and singing in chorus.
貧しい地域ながら多くの生徒が通い、学ぶことができているこの学校ですが、
Though now many children living in poor region can take education thanks to this school,
やはり活動を続けるのに苦労は絶えないのだそうです、
it is still hard to run this school sustainably.
その大きな理由の一つが
one of the biggest struggles that this school is facing is

Since the beginning, this school is run only by money donation.
ちなみに日本からは東海大学や創価大学などから
Incidentally, as a donation from japan, Tokai University and Soka University
寄付やボランティア活動が行われています。

他のビジネスと連携させているところもありますが、

この学校ではそれをやらず、寄付を集めたり、

Tシャツや生徒の書いた絵を売ったりして資金を集めています。

一見、なにか他にも出来そうな気もしますが、
Seemingly, though it seems that they could do more for raising fund,
資金難と人的資源の少なさの悪循環で
it is quite difficult to start up something new without supports
支援なしで新しくなにかを始めるのことは難しいのが現状です。
because of the lack numbers of staff caused by the lack of fund.
でも、僕のような学生でも支援できることは見た限りでも
As far as my reflection, however, there are something I could support them.
①広報活動 (HPだけでは弱いと思うので）
Promotion (something more than just web site)
②他大学との仲介役 (もっと多くの学生に知ってほしい）
Mediating with more org in Japan
(we could collect more support form students in Japan)
などできることはたくさんありそう。
Like above, there are many we could do to support them
特に、制約の少ない学生だからこそできることも
Especially as students who are not restricted a lot in the society,
まだまだ見つかりそうで、凄く可能性を感じました。
we might be able to do support more for them.
